Sink Holes, Dry Valleys, and Springs...

Professor Michael Day, Department of Geography at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and Professor James Theler from the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse performed an initial geologic and archeological survey of some of the land within Sites 1 and 2 of the proposed Genoa Offsite Project.

After careful investigation, they found numerous dry valleys and at least 3 sink holes.  Springs were also observed below the sites within the valley.  All of these findings are consistent with karst topography.

Sink Hole #1

This sink hole was found on Dewey and Deb Stafslien's property and measures approx. 20 feet wide by 4 feet deep.  The sink hole has existed for years and continues to deepen.  It is difficult to determine the magnitude of this hole due to the branches that have been piled on top of it.

Sink Hole #2

Lowell and Cindy Monroe continue to deal with sink holes.  Several years ago, they filled in one using a bulldozer.  Next to that original sink hole, another one has begun developing.

Sink Hole #3

Jackie Doran's property revealed one of the most noticable sink holes.  Check out the pictures below:
